Good. You can't drop them off and use it as babysitter. You know, you have to do the work at home as well. That's where the parents starts. Parents have to be there. Yeah. Jerry Reynolds joining us, host of the Car Pro Saturdays from 9 to 11 on WBAP. He is with us on the Clarity, Windows and Doors newsline. And the age old question is now coming back to haunt us all. Are there any affordable used cars out there anymore? Jerry, thanks for joining us today. And that's the question to start it off. Good morning guys. Yeah, there are, but do not, don't confuse affordable with dependable because they're two very different things. Used car prices have gone up primarily because new car prices have gone up so much. And there's always going to be a spread between new and used. And as new ones go up, it raises the prices of used ones. Let me give you a couple of numbers. I was looking at very recently. Five years ago, if you had between 10 and $15,000 to spend on a used car, that would get you a five year old car with 60,000 miles. Today if you look at that same ten to $15,000 budget, now you're looking at a nine and a half year old car with 100,000 miles. So you see what's happened the that that Magic Number of 15,000 or less Won't buy you nearly as much car as it would have five years ago. So that's where the market is today. Any change in that, do you see a change in the future? I mean prices don't come down on anything. Is that just going to keep doing this? You know, typically they don't come down. We, we do see some up and down movement in used cars more than new cars. New cars never go down. Used cars will go down slightly and I think we may see that. I mean generally I tell people who are looking for a used car, January is the time to do it. That's when if the market's going to drop, it'll drop in January. And that's because there's a glut of trade ins after the December sales which are December is the best new car month of the year. So the dealers get overloaded and used cars and prices drop. Supply.
